Gracie Barra Principles:

The GB Family is a worldwide Organization. With its growth and globalization came the need to create a set of teaching principles practices developed to foster consistency and to raise the level of instruction, strengthening Gracie Barra through the consolidation of synergies among the schools.

Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Schools are owned by individuals who have mastered or will master the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Art. Passionately and sincerely believing that the best way of giving back the benefits they got from their training would be to pass forward to as many people as possible the teachings and lessons learned from Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Many Gracie Barra students are teaching around the globe. However, to master the art of teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not easy and many still struggle with the different approaches, techniques, principles and methodologies available.

Recognizing these needs and also visualizing opportunities to strengthen each Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School, the Gracie Barra Principles have been created as a benchmark against which the performance of each school can be evaluated.

By doing so, we expect to help every Gracie Barra Affiliated and Official School to achieve their goals and, most of all, help the students around the globe to fulfill their dream of becoming a Gracie Barra Black Belt.

We believe that the adoption of and adherence to these Principles offers significant benefits to each Gracie Barra BJJ School and to the Gracie Barra Association as a whole, however, they are not the final word. The Gracie Barra Association will consider reviewing the GB Principles from time-to-time based on implementation experience, and in order to reflect ongoing learning and emerging good practice.
